LightningWire™ TPS

The LightningWire™ Transseptal Puncture System (TPS), which combines a novel electrosurgical guidewire with a dedicated Activation Cable to simplify procedures using preferred transseptal introducers and existing electrosurgical generators, is now 510(k)-cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to create an atrial septal defect in the heart, whereby various cardiovascular catheters are introduced.

The LightningWire TPS is designed to maximize electrosurgical performance, mechanical performance, compatibility, efficiency, safety, and value. Minimally invasive catheter ablation, left atrial appendage occlusion, and transcatheter mitral valve procedures are all streamlined.

LightningWire

Activation Cable

Activation Cable

  • Proprietary insulation design optimizes electrosurgical performance and mechanical properties along the length of the wire
  • Robust distal insulation allows transseptal puncture at low power settings, starting at 15 Watts(1)
  • 0.032-inch labeled diameter facilitates broad compatibility with various transseptal devices, including Agilis™ and Swartz™ SL1™
  • More than 2X stiffer than the market-leading 0.035-inch guidewire to support transseptal delivery of bulky ablation and structural heart devices (2)

Activation Cable

Activation Cable

Activation Cable

  • Connects to separately cleared electrosurgical generators via industry-standard monopolar accessory ports
  • Does not require a dedicated electrosurgical generator
  • Designed to activate only desirable "cut" RF waveforms; cannot activate undesirable "coag" waveforms, which might lead to unwanted thrombus generation(3)
  • Puts control of radiofrequency energy in the operator’s hands on the sterile field, including audible and haptic feedback

Designed for Efficiency

Designed for Efficiency

Designed for Efficiency

  • Guidewire-based transseptal puncture minimizes catheter exchanges
  • Activation Cable immediately disconnects after transseptal puncture to enable therapy device delivery
  • Visible markers facilitate fluoroscopy-free workflows

Designed for Safety

Designed for Efficiency

Designed for Efficiency

  • Compared to crossing at higher power settings, such as 50 Watts, lower power settings have been associated with reduced thermal injury to inter-atrial septal tissue (4)
  • Pigtail tip shape minimizes risk of cardiovascular injury after transseptal puncture (5)

Designed for Value

Designed for Efficiency

Designed for Value

  • Since existing electrosurgical generators may be used, capital expense may be eliminated
  • Disposable cost is competitive with alternatives
